Framework is now available to buy or rent through IndieFlix here . IndieFlix is great as it gives indie filmmakers the opportunity to self-distribute their work, thankyou Power to the Pixel for flagging this site up. We will still have Framework available to view online at Vimeo for free, but why not have a shiny independent film of your very own.

Though there were several big structural changes from the original script during the making of Framework the chaptered and titled structure remained throughout. The text in each chapter board changed however. Originally a succession of pretentious and overlong quotations relating to each segment became single line quotes from a popular 1980s sci-fi film about time travel. Answers on a postcard if you can figure out which one. No prizes as it’s fucking obvious really.

Throughout the post production process our digital effects wizard, Matt Turner, worked for nothing at the end of a perpetually prodding stick producing some astonishing work. Work so good, in fact, that if you’ve watched the film you probably haven’t even spotted all the effects.
Some digital work ended up being produced where none was intended and this can throw up all manner of head aches when on such a low budget with restricted resources. The ‘door’ in the film was one such area where we tried, and ultimately failed, to be a little more creative with what it might look like when on. I thought I’d post some of our aborted attempts here. Number 4 is my favourite. (SM)

We were quite lucky to be able to get hold of some great music for Framework from both established and emerging artists, as well as some beautiful original music composed by Dylan Bramley.

Back to a Future

We shot Framework 5 years ago on the side of an unseasonally cold hill in County Durham with an already outmoded camera, a wing and a prayer. Looking back I can barely fathom the level of mettle and self assurance we must have had to set ourselves a shooting date and just go and do it, whatever was to happen. Somehow we managed to drum up just enough money to house and feed everyone during the 4 week shoot with a little more left over to pay everyone on the set at least a token wage. Cast and crew spent the period staying on the set or in nearby, barely habitable digs. One for all and all for one. It was fun. Hard work but fun.
